The Chronicles of Narnia is concluded by the story of “The Last Battle”.  It is, as all the rest are, an adventure in a fantastic and fantasy world known as Narnia.  The reader, if they’ve journeyed from the first story (chronologically, although not historically), “The Magician’s Nephew”, have seen the creation of this world; will now come to its final destruction. Throughout all the adventures, the heart is stirred to “recognize” certain natural and spiritual realities.  The Creation and fall of man, the death and resurrection of the Only Son, the forgiveness of a betrayer, the coronation of the faithful,...

“Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power of his work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20 One of CCO’s founding tenets is that of having a heart of great expectation, a heart that knows that God is capable of doing far more then we can ask or imagine! We are blessed to have Fr. Simon Lobo, CC,  with us in Rome. Fr. Simon is a wonderful young priest working as a campus Chaplain in the Archdiocese of Detroit. The bond between CCO and the Companions of the Cross (CC) is very strong. And all the more strong with Fr. Simon as his brother Jeremy is a missionary with CCO. Fr. Simon joined us for supper with the four Canadian Bishops that are serving as synod fathers. For the most part Fr. Simon sat quietly, very engaged in the conversation, but more reflective than active. The two times Fr....

I couldn’t help wonder how many students walked passed him every day and didn’t even know his name.  How many of them would even notice his absence.  I was so surprised at what I witnessed...

The other day Andre and I were having lunch with Sebastian Gomes, the Salt and Light Correspondent here in Rome, who produced the “Inside the Synod“ Show. He is also the host of a really cool new TV series called “The Church Alive“. We were talking about mutual friends and leaders we knew in the Church and how much we admired them. We were asking ourselves, why are these people such good leaders and why do they have such profound respect from many people? The answer was simple and obvious to us. It was because they are willing to serve, willing...
