Today I led the Discovery study with over forty students who are preparing  to become teachers in the Catholic school system.  As has been the case over the last ten years, a large majority are not practicing their faith.  Some of them actually, when asked the question, “What are you hoping to get out of this study?”, responded with, “I'm hoping I'll be given a reason to reconsider – a reason why I should come back to the Church.”   So it’s a great joy for me to lead this study with people who are far away.   But every time I lead it I learn something...

Braving arduous multi-day journeys by train, members of Jesus Youth from across India welcomed members of Catholic Christian Outreach to India as part of an informal gathering to discuss faith and outreach. When CCO President Jeff Lockert, CCO Founder Andre Regnier and other delegates met the group, they were shocked to find how many similarities the two movements had.  “It was so profound to see our similarities,” said Lockert. “We both have roots in the campus, both movements were born of students, and our passion for the Gospel and openness to the Spirit were also very unifying.” CCO was able...

By André Regnier "The moment has come” These words of Blessed John Paul II came to mind when Pope Benedict XVI announced the upcoming synod on the new evangelization.  I was filled with anticipation and hope that the Church would embrace her missionary nature. By André Regnier This morning I was captured by the beauty and power of the Gospel.  All is rubbish compared to the knowledge of Christ.  I pray that my motivation and my desire would always come from this place of knowledge. Unfortunately often my desires are disordered, leading me to be captured by something other then Christ.  My fear going to Rome is that I will be intent on seeking recognition and acknowledgement for all that we do in CCO.   Worse, that I will be envious of those in the Church that are being recognized and acknowledged for what they are doing....

By André Regnier While at dinner with Archbishop Lacroix the other night, he looked me in the eye and he said with great conviction, “Now is the time for the new evangelization”.  He meant right now, not later.  Today I saw the Archbishop in the synod hall moving around comfortably with all his brother bishops from around the world. I am very proud of him and the other Canadian Bishops here in Rome.  I’m seeing signs that the Church in Canada is ready to take her place again in sending out missionaries around the world.  I suggest we start praying...
